Our "Web Mistress" heads Down Under...

Within less than three weeks of joining the newly instituted Public Relations Committee, Aisha Usman had single-handedly set up our Habitat for Humanity Mississauga website.  That was back in June 1997 and now Aisha – immediately dubbed our “Web Mistress” as she took on all the various challenges associated with keeping a website current – is taking her talents to Australia.

A Solutions Analyst with Matrikon, which provides software engineering solutions, Aisha says her role varies from technical configuration of her company’s products to providing consulting services.   “In my job I’ve had the chance to travel to some amazing destinations like Costa Rica.  However there are always the not so hot spots like Bagdad, Arizona (a copper mining community in Yavapai County), so I have also had a chance to see a lot of small towns in the US.”  Having always had an interest and curiosity about Australia, now she is taking a transfer and promotion to a better position in the same company starting next month.

Another Successful Event!

The 3rd Annual Habitat for Humanity Mississauga Corporate Playhouse Challenge at the Bread and Honey Festival in Streetsville on June 5th and 6th was another hit!  And yet another fierce competition had started on the morning of Saturday June 5th, with participants like Schneider Electric and The Home Depot returning for the 3rd time in a row and winners of Best built and Best decorated in 2009.

This year they were up against the fresh first timers who came into the competition with ideas and energy, ready to snatch the titles from the experts.

Four new teams came in for this competition, and they were Hilti, RR Donnelley, Whirlpool and Citi Financial.

Each team came in geared to win, with creativity and imagination at full swing. Each had their own unique theme and the teams worked hard and skillfully to complete their pieces of art on time.

New teams participants loved this event so much they were already thinking of ideas for next Year’s event!
