Long-Term Opportunities

Did you know?

Over 14,000 families in the Peel Region are on a waiting list for affordable housing.

1st Benefit of year a great success

The first benefit of the year for Habitat Mississauga -- the “Festival of Friends” concert -- enjoyed a big turn-out on February 6.

The concert, featuring several community choirs, was organized by Mississauga Festival Choir (MFC) at Eden United Church, Meadowvale.

President and board chair Doug Clark, thanking MFC for choosing to direct the proceeds from the event to Habitat for Humanity Mississauga, said:

"I think there are strong parallels between our two organizations - we each are comprised of a group of committed volunteers who have come together as members of the community to use their time and talents to give something back to the community and thereby make it a better community."

He added: "Festival of Friends" is such an apt name for the event. As we enjoyed the concert, it was obvious that the performers truly are friends who have been brought together by their love of singing and are sharing their gift with the community.

The funds raised from the concert will help Habitat for Humanity Mississauga toward our goal of "15 by ‘15"- building homes for 15 deserving families by 2015.
